Church Creek Wine & Oyster Tour

A singular and epicurean opportunity to learn about aquaculture and viticulture on Virginia’s Eastern Shore with our partners at Shooting Point Oyster Company aboard the Oyster Queen in Church Creek and at Chatham Vineyards. The tour includes an immersive three hour experience in wine and oyster tasting that begins with an oyster farming tour on Church Creek aboard the Oyster Queen with Shooting Point Oyster Company. The water tour is followed by a wine tasting at Chatham Vineyards with oysters on the half shell. There are few places on the Eastern Shore that feel closer to the sea than Wachapreague, so breathe in the salty air and savor views of the Wachapreague harbor while you crack open freshly roasted oysters. There is plenty of fork-tender pulled pork, too, with classic sides like baked beans, potato salad and coleslaw to complete the feast. Beer and local Chatham Vineyards wine will is available and the Island House’s bar is stocked with cocktails. The event features a silent and live auction, as well as live entertainment.

No two things taste more like their place than wine and oysters. Join us to celebrate the Eastern Shore’s distinct viticulture and aquaculture offerings and tout the hyper-local benefits of growing grapes within steps of some of the best aqua farming in the country. Tickets include a raw bar tasting of six different Eastern Shore oysters (grown from the Chesapeake Bayside to the Atlantic Seaside’s Barrier Islands), unlimited roasted oysters, Eastern Shore-style clam chowder, and a glass of Church Creek wine of your choice. Ducks Unlimited Oyster Roast

The annual Ducks Unlimited Oyster Roast helps to preserve the very waters that provide the oysters that are the center piece of this feast. Held on the property of the Barrier Island Center, an historic almshouse, attendees can feast on smoky, roasted oysters and clams juicy pork barbecue, baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw and assorted desserts. Festival goers can unleash their competitive side with both a silent and live auction. Last year was a sold out event and tickets will sell out quickly, be sure to purchase your tickets today.   Any tickets sold at the door will be $100.00.

Artisans Guild Open Studio & Vineyard Tour

The Eastern Shore Artisans Guild will hold its 15th Annual Holiday Tour on Friday and Saturday, November 24 and 25. This is a free, self-directed and self-driven tour. There are thirteen stops off Rt. 13 in Accomack and Northampton counties, stretching from Cape Charles in the south to Onancock in the north. The stops include nine artisan and art studios, two historical buildings, an alpaca farm, and Chatham Vineyards. Visitors on the tour will discover a wide variety of high quality items, most of which are one-of-a-kind pieces. Jewelry, decoys, wildlife carvings, ceramics, art quilts, pottery, metal sculptures, wearable fiber, Windsor chairs, oil and watercolor paintings and more will be found at the various stops on the tour. The work created by ESAG artisans is inspired by the unique beauty and history of Virginia’s Eastern Shore, and most incorporate materials found or produced locally. ESAG members are dedicated to promoting and preserving the rich artistic heritage of the area. Light refreshments will be available at most stops.

Cape Charles Historical Society Oyster Roast

Oysters are the star of this traditional Eastern Shore roast on the grounds of the Cape Charles Museum, and will be served both roasted and raw.
