February may seem like a chilly time to hold an oyster roast, but the Barrier Islands Center pulls out all the stops to keep guests warm and toasty during their annual shindig. Visitors can dine on roasted oysters, clams, pork barbecue, grilled chicken and sides in the comfort of a heated tent.
The Barrier Islands Center’s Annual Oyster Roast is our signature fundraising event. Not only is it THE BEST PARTY ON THE EASTERN SHORE; by participating, you help to preserve and perpetuate the Shore’s unique coastal heritage and do so much for our community. Because tickets sell out each year, make sure to reserve your space early.
The Oyster Roast is an opportunity to celebrate the bounty and beauty of this region. Local oyster houses generously manage the roasting and steaming of oysters and clams. The silent auction also showcases a broad spectrum of local talent, thanks to the local artisans, artists, restaurants, entrepreneurs and other businesses who generously donate their lovingly-produced items. The proceeds help keep our doors open with free admission to all.
Tickets
Tickets for BIC’s Annual Oyster Roast Fundraiser are $100 per person and are available exclusively to BIC members for purchase in person, by phone or by mail beginning in January (invitations with response cards are mailed to current members in December). There is a limit of 8 tickets per member. If tickets remain, they are available for purchase to the general public at the end of January. Ticket price includes event admission, roasted wild seaside oysters, steamed clams, clam chowder, chicken, BBQ and all the fixin’s, Chatham wines, a wide selection of beer, soft drinks, coffee and roasted peanuts.
